Queensland Health Service Agreements

Queensland Health enters into a Service Agreement (i.e. a contract) with each HHS for a defined period.

The Service Agreement defines:

  • The health services, teaching, research and other services that are to be provided by the HHS

  • The funding to be received by the HHS for the delivery of these services

  • The outcomes that are to be met by the HHS

  • How its performance will be measured (Key Performance Indicators).

This signed service agreement contains funding, activity and performance requirements for the HHS across the applicable period.

Why it's important

Being aware of Service Agreements as a line manager will:

  • Give you clarity in your role and the expectations to allow you to allocate work, manage workloads, and avoid confusion.

  • Plan resources, staffing, and budgets effectively.

  • Setting clear boundaries, reduce misunderstandings, and help resolve disputes quickly by reducing risk.

  • Identify what's working and where improvements are needed.

  • Align your team's work with the broader strategic and operational priorities.
