Queensland Health Structure

Queensland Health is a complex healthcare system consisting of the Department of Health and 16 Hospital and Health Services, known as HHSs.

Minister

The Minister has overall responsibility for the Queensland Health system.

Department of Health

The Department of Health is managed by the Director General, and sets the strategic direction and policy for the entire health system.

Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS)

The QAS provides patient care and transport services.

Hospital and Health Services (HHSs)

HHSs are governed by their own boards and are responsible for delivering public health services within their regions.
