The Senior and Executive Leader Mentoring program provides an opportunity to build connections statewide, as a mentor, a mentee, or both.
By pairing leaders across regions, we are strengthening collaboration, broadening perspectives, and creating a more connected leadership community across Queensland Health.
- Mentors: Share your experience in a way that fits your schedule, strengthen your coaching capability, and support emerging talent.
- Mentees: Gain guidance, perspective, and support from leaders across the organisation.
What to expect?
- A six-month program with flexible, self-directed engagements, supported by a mentoring platform.
- A matching algorithm that considers a range of criteria, including skills and goals, professional stream and other personal characteristics.
- Guided resources and support.
- A chance to make a meaningful impact without a heavy workload.
What is the difference between coaching and mentoring?

Coaching is a structured approach focused on achieving specific skills, behaviours, and/or goals.

Mentoring is a longer-term arrangement and less structured, focused on holistic career development and guidance.
Eligibility
You must be a Queensland Health senior or executive leader (e.g., DSO/HSO/SO and above), employed in a permanent or temporary capacity in a Queensland Health hospital or health facility or with Queensland Ambulance Service. You are considered a Senior Leader if you report to an Executive Director or above.
Before registering, please ensure you seek support from your supervisor/manager.
Time commitment
This program is built to be flexible and realistic for leaders with full schedules. Mentoring doesn’t need to be a large time commitment. In fact, many successful partnerships thrive on short, meaningful check‑ins. Once matched, each pair will discuss what works best for them, ensuring expectations are clear and manageable from the start.
